BARBARA KIND
Founder and Director
Originally from Germany, Barbara bought Fort Governor’s Estate in 2014 and now spends her time equally between Germany and South Africa, restoring FGE back to her dream of a haven for both wildlife and people!
SEAN VAN ZYL
Managing Director and Head PH
With over 26 years of experience in the game & hunting industry, Sean is the driving force behind the running of the Estate. The “man with the big hat” is a fully qualified game ranger and PH and has a fair number of exciting fire-side stories to tell from his years in the industry.
JO VAN ZYL
Hospitality Manager and Reservations
Originally from the UK, Jo moved to SA in 2008 to work at a number of 5-star game lodges. With a keen passion for travel, cuisine and outdoor living, Jo runs the show for all things hospitality related and always likes to give her guests the best possible experience with a few hidden surprises!

Head Chef
Our very own Masterchef Siziwe is able to whip up some of the most beautiful, tasty creations this side of the Equator! Using the freshest, local & seasonal ingredients, she will create the most incredible meals to tickle your tastebuds.
DANIEL VAN VUUREN
Social Media Manager and Admin Assistant
Daniel joined the Fort Governor's Safaris team in early 2024, bringing a wealth of creative expertise to the table. With a background in photography, videography, and graphic design, he enhances the Fort Governor's brand with his professional touch.
HENNIE DE BEER
Maintenance Manager
The man who makes a plan! Hennie is our man on the ground for all things maintenance related. With numerous skills ranging from welding to mechanics and all round fixing, no job is too big or too small.
HOUSEKEEPING TEAM
Our friendly housekeepers, Sarah and Xoliswa are the cheerful faces that keep our lodges beautiful and clean and our linen crisp and fresh!
THE TEAM ON THE GROUND
We have a small but perfectly formed team who keep everything on the farm in running order. Amos, Javu, Thomas and Charles tackle all the necessary jobs, big and small, to keep our Game and Estate in great condition!
